Show Reviews.

Alright some time during June I went to see: Ceremony Paint it Black Crime in Stereo Title Fight and some other bands who I don't care about. This show was on the south shore of Long Island, so Nick, Matt, Ryan, and myself made the two hour plus drive out there. However, we were rejected entrance. Matt was the last one let in. Fuck you Matt. So after Ceremony's set on Long Island we booked it to Brooklyn. Reason? Ceremony Paint it Black after party/show. We got there mad early so we walked around Brooklyn for a bit. Now the show it self was wild. Paint it Blacks set was one of the tightest, most enthusiastic sets I've seen. Ceremony's set was kinda lacking but whatever. Good show non the less.

Coke Bust, Bloodtype, Sick Fix:

On July 2nd me, Matt and Ryan went down to New Brunswick to catch Coke Bust's tour kick off. It was at this guy Rich NJ's new house, I think. Side note, Rich NJ is in Stressed Out who just released a split with my good friends Rip It Up go buy it and catch them on tour. Okay, back to the show. Bloodtype was the first band to play, this was their second show. My good friend George plays guitar for them, and they fucking ripped. Fast pissed off straight edge hardcore. The demo rules. These guys are gunna get big. They also covered Cro-Mags which is always fun. Sick Fix, a girl fronted band were rad. Reminded me of His Hero is Gone a little, ehh. They covered Project X. Coke Bust fucking killed it. They were really loud and tight. Great drumming. Over all a good show. Saw a lot of friends.

Tragedy,Mourne,Blacklisted,Brain Handle, Brain Killer:

I was lucky enough to get to see Tragedy, one the best HC punk band and one of my favorite bands, play with Blacklisted another favorite of mine. The show started off with Brain Killer who played a good set. The punk were diggin' it, They were pretty good, bought a 7 inch. Brain Handle was after them and they sucked balls. The singer had no stage presence and was extremely awkward. Blacklisted was after Brain Handle , and BL nailed it. They played a good long set of old an new songs. George was moshing around on stage and doing some weird dances. Amazing set, amazing band, can not wait for the new record. Mourne was after Blacklisted. Didn't catch most of their set. But from what I did they were really good, but were really boring. They're epic crust I guess? They were whatever. I was just excited to see the next band.....TRAGEDY! Watching them set up I had the biggest smile on my face. I was hoping, praying that they would open up with " Conflicting Ideas" but they didn't. Loudest set I've heard. Also best, and tightest. They played with such ferocity. Not speaking in between songs, lead singer and guitar player Todd Burdette, only spoke to say the names of each song. After their set the audience roared for an encore. Yet, being the punks they are Tragedy didn't give us one.

I'll do the Punch reviews later. Sorry for any spelling errors and shit running on no sleep and one cup of coffee.
Any ways I'm gunna be putting up some good NJxHC soon. Keep your eye's peeled! Ifyou have any requests lemme know!

Void/Faith

Void was an early 80's hardcore punk band closely linked to the Washington D.C. scene but actually hailing from nearby Columbia, Maryland. Often credited as one of the first bands to successfully fuse hardcore and heavy metal, this was mostly due to guitarist Bubba Dupree's unique playing style that somehow managed to merge the reckless abandonment of punk with the technical riffing of metal. One of my favorite bands out of the 80s.

Faith formed as a four piece in the summer of 1981 and featured Alec Mackeye on vocals, former vocalist for the Untouchables , as well as Michael Hampton of State Of Alert on guitar. After recording a demo, the band released a split LP with fellow D.C. hardcore band, Void. It was released by Dischord Records, a local independent label founded by MacKaye's older brother and Minor Threat vocalist, Ian MacKaye. It featured the song "You're X'd," which addressed the straight edge philosophy popularized by Minor Threat and S.O.A.

This is one of the best splits to ever come out. Void is one of the best hardcore bands period. Here the Faith/Void spilt.

Poison Idea

So haven't posted in a while...... Mosh. Go check out my friends in Myspace.com/xripitupx. They're going on tour soon should be rad. So I've seen some pretty rad shows lately. I saw Tragedy and Blacklisted play together. Tragedy is the loudest band I've ever seen. They played with such and intensity and ferocity, never speaking between songs just spitting out the names. Saw Punch(who fucking rule) both friday and saturday.
The show Friday kinda sucked cause all the bands but Punch and Nomos sucked. Saturdays show was amazing. Relics,
The Seperation and the other bands killed it!

For your listening pleasure heres Poison Idea's "Pick Your King".

Poison Idea was formed in 1980 by vocalist Jerry A. (aka Jerry Lang). The initial lineup consisted of Jerry A., Tom “Pig Champion” Roberts (guitar), Glen Estes (bass), and Dean Johnson (drums). Inspired by Black Flag and other early Southern California hardcore acts, they were further influenced by Discharge and Los Angeles’s the Germs. Germs singer Darby Crash was a strong influence on singer Jerry A.—vocally, lyrically, and philosophically—was monumental, and Poison Idea followed the Germs’ extremist punk ethic.

This is one of the best hardcore punk bands you'll ever hear. Their 1983 "Pick Your King" release is one of the best records of all time. So enjoy it.
